Solar Energy for Generations to Come

Help us cross the finish line… to a fully functioning solar energy source that will service the Mission for generations!

The video, above, is of another solar project happening at a facility elsewhere in Fiji. Help us realize our goal of one day soon have video footage of a solar plant being built on Mission grounds!

A Request from our Founder, Tom Tooma

Dear friends and colleagues,

I signed up for the Arizona Ironman competition on November 15, 2015. Oops, I announced it, now I have to do it!!

I made the decision to participate in this race about a year ago to raise funds for the Mission at Natuvu Creek in Fiji, a Mission that my wife, Marta, and I founded in 2008.

The Mission and the people it serves have become near and dear to our heart and the hearts of so many the Mission has touched.  We gratefully strive for the continued provision of  free medical and dental care to the people of Fiji. We are blessed to have volunteers from the United States, North and South America, as well as Europe providing services such as cataract surgery, gynecological services, cancer screening and treatment, reconstructive plastic surgery (including cleft lips and palate repair), general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and pediatric and general medical care.

Our Mission continues to grow as we help to provide not only medical and dental services, but health, education, housing improvements, job training, family counseling, and spiritual growth.  We look toward the future of Fiji and contributing to generations of better health, education and overall living conditions.

The funds raised by the “Ironman” campaign will be used to build a solar powered energy source that will make the mission compound independent of generator and fuel energy for more efficiency and to be kinder to the environment. Our largest expense of the Mission is our people costs of a full time physician and 22 full time staff. Our fuel costs are the second largest expense of the Mission. We also need to raise funds to build more housing, since our current housing is only able to accommodate 40 people. The total funds needed for both projects will be $180,000. Marta and I hope that you will consider sponsoring me in the “race to the finish line” by making a tax-deductible donation to Make the Mission Fuel Independent, reducing our costs, and redeploying these funds to better serve the Fijian people and help maintain the unspoiled beauty of the environment.

What is the Ironman?

The Ironman race is a 140.6 mile race (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a full marathon, 26.2 miles). Your can pledge any amount per mile (even a $1.00 per mile pledge will raise a $140.60 donation to the Mission). Or, you can donate a lump sum.  No donation is too small. With God’s help, I hope to finish this race, so that we can raise the largest amount of money possible for the Mission.

Many Blessings,

Tom Tooma
