MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

Dear Family and Friends, We are thrilled to share with you all that we are making one of our shared dreams a reality!  We have the opportunity to go on a volunteer faith-based medical mission trip together with a highly respected and dedicated group, The Mission at Natuvu Creek, in Fiji this upcoming May.  Those served in the rural area of Natuvu Creek are solely dependent on volunteers in order to receive any medical and dental care.  Dani will graduate from her family nurse practitioner program at Michigan State University a few weeks prior to this mission trip, and Mark will be just a month away from finishing his family medicine residency program through St. Joseph Mercy health system. Our purpose for this mission trip is to share our passion for caring and helping others, and impact the lives of these destitute individuals through disease preventative and health maintenance interventions as primary care medical professionals. As a family medicine physician and a family nurse practitioner, we are very enthusiastic about not only providing these residents with an array of medical services, but will also be able to influence their overall well-being and future by giving them valuable health and wellness education.  We believe that going through this experience together will help us to grow personally as well as professionally, as we begin a new and exciting chapter in our post-graduate and post-doctoral lives!  We both thoroughly look forward to interacting and treating a completely new patient demographic whilst improving our cultural competency through a global health mission. We will be volunteering our services for a full week, serving in the medical clinic at Natuvu Creek during our stay.  Our goal is to raise $4,000 to help with the expenses of our travel, room and board, and any other additional costs that may arise during our pursuit to help others.  It cannot be stressed enough that we feel extremely fortunate and blessed by this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only help change the lives of these residents, but to also embark on this journey together.  We thank you all for your support in the pursuit of our shared dream coming true!   -Mark and Dani Langlois
